This incident was used as a pretext by the organs of RSS & a massive & simultaneous campaign of genocide, looting, arson, burning, raping & destruction of muslim lives, properties, businesses, factories, places of worships, Islamic schools & religious shrines was carried out in a systematic manner all over the Gujarat state. The modus-operandi was like this:1) Huge mobs numbering from 2000 at the minimum to 10000 to 15000 comprising of hardcore hired criminals broughtin from outside the state, RSS, VHP & Bajrangdal cadres from local sakhas & residents in the neighbourhoods, subscribing to the RSS view point attacked muslim targets. The leader of this mob used to be a local man with a well prepared comprehensive list of Muslim houses & establishments with a mobile phone for communication. Various persons in the mobs were armed with trishools, swords, pipes, fire-arms & petrol bombs. They had trucks / tempos & luxury buses carrying barrels of solvent, kerosene, petrol, cylinders of LPG cooking gas & also oxygen cylinders – different things in different places. The muslim population was caught unawares by this sudden & massive attack. Their resistance to protect themselves & their properties lasted anywhere between 4 hours to 36 hours using sheer courage & instinct for survival. Their weapons were stones & bottles to the extent available in their neightbourhood. The entire police force right from the topmost IPS Cadre of CP to the ordinary constable were either neutral at the best or openly hostile at the worst assisting the attacking mobs with their rifles & other fire arms. (There were only a very few exceptions – these could be counted on finger tips. They have been subsequently punished by the state government for their performance of duty & adherence to the constitution of India).2) After resistance of defending muslims was overcome the attacking mobs set upon the hapless victims & beat them up & doused them with solvent / kerosene / petrol etc., & set them on fire to burn them alive. The residences, shops, godowns & factories were looted & thereafter those were also doused with inflammable liquids & set fire to destroy them. A special chemical was used to accelerate the fire. In many places gas cylinders were rolled inside the properties with gas leaking out & thereafter burning rags were thrown in, leading to instant catching of fire, explosion of cylinders & gutting of the entire structure in a short time. A large number of victims were women, infants & children. The young women & girls of marriageable age were singled out by the mobs. They were undressed & gang-raped & thereafter tortured by using screw drivers, pipes & hammers or cut into pieces by swords. The attackers thereafter urinated on their corpses & after dousing torched them to ashes. A few surviving victims can tell actual first person eye witness accounts of the misdeeds for the strong hearted who would like to verify the truth.3) Political workers, corporaters, MLAs & State Government Ministers were also out in the field to encourage, enthuse & guide the mobs in their mission.4) The hindu neighbours not participating in this genocide were silent spectators. Calls for help over the phone to the police, leaders, to the fire brigade all fell on deaf ears. Simultaneously there was a misinformation campaign by the RSS organs to create false alarms on the police control rooms & fire brigades to direct the help to peaceful areas & keep it away from the areas of action where victims were being burnt & killed & properties set to fire.5) The injured victims - most of them by the police bullets & some by private firing - were purposefully left unattended in the emergency casualty wards, sword wielding crowds preventing muslim volunteers from providing their services to the injured in the hospitals & a marked hostile attitude by the hospital staff including doctors resulted in the death of many who might have otherwise survived if prompt attention was paid to them with an aim to save their lives. 6) Thousands of families and individual victims who have suffered need to file their FIRs. Unfortunately, the local police station / chowki does not entertain them and refuses outright to accept their FIR. In many instances the police officers have filed general FIRs for a complete neighbourhood or a group of dead persons in a particular locality and mentioned “a mob of 5000 people”. The legal opinion is that such FIRs draw a blank leaving the actual culprits totally untouched!!!7) There are many cases of ugly & undescribable cruelty, which have come to light. A sample is given hereunder:a) A young pregnant woman about to complete her term had her belly slit open by a single stroke of a knife & the foetus removed & throwned on the floor & doused & burnt to ashes followed by dousing of the woman herself & her being burnt alive with her family members standing & watching in horror.b) A police officer stopping a private van driven by a young volunteer carrying injured victims to the hospital & asking the young driver to step out & after a perfunctory talk putting his revolver to the temple of the boy & pressing his trigger to put him to death. No FIR dared be lodged against the police officer.c) A muslim family running away from the attacking mob & seeing the police party, approaching them for protection & help & the latter leading them round a corner & instead of providing safety, handing them over to another mob who immediately set upon the victims, beat them up, doused them & burnt them alive.d) A prestigious dentist and his son defended their building and the lives of three families against a mob of 2000 people and when they ultimately had to fire from their licensed firearm to protect their own lives and the lives of their neighbours in the building – their FIR was rejected by the local police station!!! The son of the dentist was also injured in private firing from the mob. To rub salt in their wounds both the father & son have been accused in an FIR filed by one of the attackers and under section 302 they were forced to surrender to the police. The dentist and his family have lost everything in their house as also their neighbours and the entire building was looted and gutted by the mobs after these people escaped to save lives.8) The chief minister of the state declares that for the first time in the history of Gujarat the so called “riots” were brought under control in 3 days time. However, the fact is that systematic & planned campaigns of killing, burning, looting & destruction are being carried out in cities, towns & remote interior villages of Ahmedabad, Kheda, Baroda, Sabarkantha, Banaskantha, Panchmahals, Bharuch, Bhavnagar & Anand districts. At the time of writing this report on 1.4.2002 the local newspaper has reported of widespread attacks in areas of Ahmedabad – Khambhat & Petlad, Narsanda, Paludnra, Kadi, Nadiad and other places. In Ahmedabad alone the number of deaths reported on 31.3.2002 (reported in the newspapers of 1.4.2002) is 5. In the village of Palundra alone all 60 houses were looted & gutted in fire by the attackers.9) The total loss suffered by the muslim community in Gujarat till date is estimated as under:a) DEATHS – Anywhere between 12,000 to 15,000. Many deaths have gone unreported because there is no surviving kith & kin of entire families or individual isolated traveling victims on the road or workers / businessmen / visitors from outside the state. There are a large number of persons missing in each place as reported by the survivors in the relief camps.b) INJURED – 25,000 men, women & children including a 20-day old baby with 30% to 70% burns & other injuries.c) PROPERTIES – In many isolated muslim neighbourhoods in big cities & towns and complete localities of small muslim populations from a solitary house to 50 / 100 houses in villages have been completely destroyed.A systematic looting, destruction & burning of business shops, offices, godowns & factories in industrial estates including those units in which even a single muslim was a partner / director with all others being non-muslims - were looted & destroyed. It is estimated that 90% of the revenue earning capacity of muslims in Gujarat has been decimated ranging from three wheeler rickshaws / pan galla cabins to multi-crore revenue earning factories. The total estimated damage is several thousand crores of rupees. Many of the properties were not insured or only partly insured.d) Roughly 500 MOSQUES, ISLAMIC SCHOOLS & SHRINES were destroyed. A prominent shrine & a mosque in Ahmedabad were not only demolished but the rubble also removed instantly othernight, the land flattened by a road roller & metal & tar put in place to make it appear as if there was no prior construction there the very next morning!!!e) It is estimated that 4400 – FOUR WHEELERS & 20,000 – TWO / THREE WHEELERS were stopped on the national & state highways & set to fire. Many drivers / riders / passengers are reported to have been burnt alive. The case in point is a Sumo of a Bohra family of 8 persons from Dungarpur, Rajasthan which was sealed from outside & all the passengers & the vehicle fully doused with inflammable liquid & set to fire. After several days & with great difficulty the relatives of the family in Rajasthan were able to locate the metallic remains & a few bones & ashes of this Bohdra family in their Sumo van on the outskirts of Ahmedabad.10 Muslim students face an uncertain future because the school / college managements & many nonmuslim students have turned hostile. Many schools have openly informed muslim parents not to send their wards to school. (e.g. Ankoor and Don Boscoe High Schools)11) At present there are about 45 relief camps in which more than 50,000 homeless refugees are given temporary shelter. There are reports of some relief camps also being made a target of mob attacks in the beginning when the camps were set up. A Minister of the State Government has written to the police authorities to remove the relief camps for reasons best known to him. Many refugees have expressed their firm resolve not to return to their original location out of their fear of certain death in the light of threats from their attackers. Rehabilitation & resettlement is an issue that cannot even be taken up at this stage due to continuing attacks & incidents of arson, looting & killing in different areas on different days all over the state till date. Even a comprehensive survey & report of the total loss of lives & properties has to wait until peace & normalcy returns enabling the volunteers & NGOs to take up this arduous task.12) In order to have a glimpse of what has been stated in the foregoing paras we are enclosing the copies of following interim documents:a) A copy of loss of life & property in Sabarkantha district as on 19.3.2002. (To be updated)b) A list of relief camps organized by NGOs (for Ahmedabad only) as on 17.3.2002.c) A copy of village wise report of loss of life & property in Anand / Kheda district as on 27.3.2002.d) A copy of list of religious places destroyed / damaged in Anand / Kheda district as on 27.3.2002. APPEAL :Our amir Hazrat Maulana Abdul Ghani Saheb has formed a relief committee essentially comprising of all the members of Gujarat Sarvajanik Relief Committee which has been carrying out relief work operations in the district of Kutchchh for the last one year & he has also included Jamiat Ulama-I-Hind as a part of the relief committee. The chairman of the relief committee continues to be Hazrat Maulana Gulam Mohammed Vastanvi Saheb. The treasurer is Mr. Abdulsattar Memon & the working president is Mr Afzal Memon. The committee is right now engaged in providing immediate relief in the form of foodgrains & provisions of medical help & such other things to the refugees located in the relief camps & other low income families who are deprived of their opportunity to earn their daily livelyhood due to continuing attacks by the Hindu terrorists till date.Rehabilitation and resettlement of the affected families is the MAJOR CONCERN. Huge funds & voluntary painstaking arduous effort will be necessary to implement this task. The committee can only do all that is humanly possible. Actually it is Allah Allmighty who can look after all the needs of His subjects. We can do our best & pray to Him for his divine providence & help for this mammoth task.We appeal to you to rise to this occasion & help your Mu’min brothers & sisters in Gujarat to the maximum possible extent. Forget about building mosques, madrasas and fancy houses, its time money was ploughed into the procurment of arms. If you are going to be killed by a kaffir you will be shahid, but its better if you take out 10 kaffirs with you.The carnage was planned and executed with precision. Neighbourhoods were isolated and teams assigned for the task. Theres only one way to deal with animals who worship animals.Forgot about handguns, i'm talking about submachine guns and real bombs.

We all know how the arrogant Arab or the rest of so-called Muslim countries did NOT say boo! when the Gujrati Muslims were mercilessly slaughtered by the Hindus in India recently. To the Arabs the Indian and Pakistanis are Misquins - or beggars and hence do not deserve any sympathy or solidarity. Which Arab or Muslim country for that matter came to the rescue or granted refuge to the Ugandans and other nationals of Indian and Pakistani origin from Trinidad, Fiji, Guyana, Zaire, South africa, Tanzania, Madagascar etc.? However, the Indian and Pakistanis always support in solidarity any downtrodden Muslim regardless of their ethnic origin or race - and not only their fair-weather friends. That's Islam and humanity dear brothers and sisters - not some of the Arab variety which is being exhibited recently.Even look at Pakistan itself. Hundreds of Shias (including prominent doctors, professionals and business people have been murdered in Pakistanis). Not one murderer seems to have been apprehended or successfully prosecuted or convicted. But when it came to the murder of the American, Pearl, the Pakistanis have a person already being prosecuted - within less than one month of the murder. American money talks, one would presume!!The haven't even caught any one for the cold-blooded murder of the first Prime Minister of Pakistan Liaqat Ali Khan. So what chance do the rest of the citizenry have to secure fair justice?
