A valiant bohra family's battle against Modi
Hello friends. Warm greetings to all our brothers on "both sides" of the divide. Maybe you guys will consider it a strange opening statement, but this being my first post, I wanted to be more courteous.
I would like to start by congratulating all the contributing members like Insaaf, AZ, Porus, Mubarak, Hussain KSA, Oma and loads of others I am not naming. Hats off to you guys. I just want to pen down that your efforts are surely not going in vain. The deeper the darkness, the smaller the lamp required to keep the darkness at bay. All you guys combined may be very small and insignificant in numbers, muscles, money, power etc.... but you guys DO make an impact for sure. Please keep up the good work of keeping the community informed and aware.
I also want to tell you that sometimes, just in the excitement of putting a point across to the other side, some very important points do get missed. Points which could make all of us very proud. Coming straight to the point, how many of us know that the family who has dragged Narendra Modi to court, and on whose petition the SIT, appointed by the Supreme Court of India, is now looking very closely at the events of Godhra aftermath, happens to be a dawoodi bohra family. Mr. Ahsan Hussain Jafri was a dawoodi bohra and probably the first dawoodi bohra politician to reach the parliament as an elected member. Mrs Zakia Jafri, is the one who's petition is probably giving the BJP nightmares. Read more about Ahsan Jafri here http://www.visionjafri.org/index2.html
One thing amazes me. If you happen to talk to the muslims (not bohras), who survived the fateful day, address Ahsan Jafri as "shaheed" Ahsan Jafri, whereas you talk to any other dawoodi bohra who happened to be present there on that day (there are quite a few who survived, in fact Ahsan Jafri was the only dawoodi bohra to have laid down his life that day, remaining all 54 or so who died in Gulberg society were muslims), they don't even seem to acknowledge the great act this gentlemen succeeded in pulling off.
I just wanted to give out this info to all our dawoodi bohra brothers. What Mr. Ahsan Jafri did made me feel extremely proud, that as a community, we still have people who can pull out extra-ordinary feats. No ordinary guy can face crowd of 10,000 morons brandishing weapons and try to gamble to rescue others by giving himself up. Since this petition filed by his wife Mrs. Zakia Jafri has reached a critical stage, it would be interesting to see what Modi does. I personally feel he has already started whipping up sentiments as usual by circulating flase info that SIT has summoned him and then trying to play the "poor boy" saying there are people with "vested interest" who are out to defame him. This time his trick is a see through. If there are some people who are out to defame him, then they surely cannot be fools to overlook that 21 March happened to by a Sunday. He himself seem to be circulating this idea of false summons by SIT. Let us wait and watch.

Welcome on board Br.Awarebohra
I did not know that Marhoom Jafri was a Dawoodi Bohra, It seems that he did not have the traits of any Abdes neither do the current DG of Gujrat Police who is also a Dawoodi Bohra.

Mr. Ahsan Jafri was my relative from my elder brother Dr. Haider Ali Insaf's wife's side. He was a well known Urdu poet. Living in Gujarat and speaking Gujarati at home he could write such good Urdu that was a surprise. But then in Gujarat we find Urdu scholars like Wris Alvi. I found Ahsan Jafri and Zakia very humble and non-controversial. He has 8 volumes of Urdu poetry at his credit.
Najma Hibtullah was a Raj Sabha member then. She hails from Bhopal. So Ahsan Jafri was constantly phoning my brother who in turn was requesting all his political contacts in Congress at Delhi to help the family. But no help could reach them.
The last couplet I heard from him in that tense moment over the phone was:
Raato mai bhi mera chehra jag mag karta hai
roshan kal ka ek sapna dil mai basta hai
Aane wali naslo ko mai dekar jata hoon
mere hato mai khwabo ka guldasta hai

Wikipedia says:
Ehsan Jafri (1929 – February 28, 2002) was an Indian Muslim ex-Parliamentarian who was burnt to death in his own home during the Gujarat riots of 2002. He had been a noted trade unionist, and was one of the top party officials of the Congress party in Gujarat. His name is also written Ahsan Jafri.
The death of such a prominent ex-parliamentarian by rioters, and the inability of the government apparatus to come to his aid despite repeated desperate phone calls from top Congress officials over a period of five hours, has been pointed to by many as evidence of the state government's involvement in the riot. Further, the complete lack of progress in the case - most of the cases have been closed without arrest by 2007, has also been seen as evidence of the state government complicity.
In 2007, a Tehelka sting operation showed spycam film footage on Aaj Tak of members of the Hindu rightist organizations RSS and VHP detailing the murder of Jafri. The report elicited no response from the Gujarat police, and four months later, the Supreme court appointed a high level investigative team, including the ex-chief of the Central Bureau of Investigation to investigate eleven major unresolved cases arising from the riots, including this murder.
Life: Ehsan Jafri was born in Burhanpur, Madhya Pradesh in 1929. His father, Dr. Allahbaksh Jafri, was a freedom fighter in the Indian Independence Movement. In 1935, Ehsan moved to Ahmedabad, studying at the R.C. High School. He himself participated in some of the demonstrations related to the Indian Independence.
Eventually, Ehsan started empathizing with the large labour force working in the cloth mills and other industries of Ahmedabad. He became a noted labour union organizer, writing incisively on exploitation of the workers and calling attention to their grievances. In 1949 he was jailed in Baroda for one year related to his labour militancy. Subsequently, he was elected General Secretary of the Progressive Editor's Union. Around this time, he also completed his Law degree and started practising as an attorney in Ahmedabad.
During the communal riots of 1969, Jafri's house was burnt down, and he had to move to the relief camp. Subsequently, he worked for greater Hindu-Muslim understanding, and continued to live in the same locality after rebuilding his house.
In the 1960s, he had joined the Congress Party of Indira Gandhi, and was heading the city unit by 1972. In 1977, after the emergency when the party was routed in most Indian states, Ehsan managed to win the Ahmedabad seat and became a parliamentarian in the 6th Lok Sabha. Thereafter, he remained active in the party and held several key organizational posts in the Congress Party Administration in Gujarat.

Brother AwareBohra,
Thanks for bringing this fact to light. For abdes, only the actions of the Syedna and his family are significant enough to be praised. Anybody else, distracts from the primacy of their glory.
May he Rest in Peace, and may Modi be brought to justice.

And when doing the jaman, gossip about other people in the community.
Example: "Mr. X's son who went to USA, is off limits. I've heard that he does not go to masjid and attend majlis. I've also heard that he is now clean shaven against moula's farmaan. Also that he is in contact with many foreign women. astagferullah...tauba tauba...i will never send my son to USA where he's far away from moula's saaya"

Re: A valiant bohra family's battle against Modi
It is such a regret that for people like myself who are 4th generation of Indian migrants to Africa and now live in the Developed country that these historical achievements are unknown and only know what is produced on this site.
Our children go to Bohri madrassa and all they learn is some Diai and Syedi and some ficticious mythology that sounds so silly when you ask them what they learnt at Mdrassa, some rediculous made'e Sajada tuje wajib he !.
Why would Bohra history not include such events ? Since Kothar and Orthos are not interested , I have requested this before to the Admin, why can you not assign a section on this website and list prominant Bohra Achievements ..sometime back we discussed an Artis, now this, the Pioneers of democracy in Africa like the Jivenjees ..we will loose these history with time !
May Sahid Jafri rest in peace and his sacrifice be a useful lesson for the future !

Re: A valiant bohra family's battle against Modi
Not a single Abde has come on this thread and given their condolence to the person, who has given his life for the sake of saving other people. This shows how unhuman Abdes have become like their Master. They only come to defend their Master with all sort of illogical arguments ,without any proof.
May the soul of Jafri Sir be rest in peace .

Re: A valiant bohra family's battle against Modi
In 2007, Ashish Khetan, an investigative journalist from Tehelka, acting as an RSS man from Delhi, obtained spycam film footage where one of the accused, Madan Chawal, describes how the "mob took cylinders from other houses. The cylinders were placed along the wall and set afire… resulting in an explosion that damaged the almost two-feet thick wall.". Subsequently, he said that Jafri opened fire on the mob and injured a few people. Finally he offered the mob money pleading for them to spare him and the other Muslims in Gulbarg. At this, the mob told him to come down to them with the money. As soon as he stepped out, he was grabbed.
Chawal recalled the killing: Paanch-chheh jan pakad liye the, phir usko jaise pakad ke khada rakha phir logon mein se kisi ne talwar maari… haath kaate… haath kaat ke phir pair kaate… phir na sab kaat dala… phir tukde kar ke phir lakda jo lagaye thhe, lakde uspe rakh ke phir jala daala… zinda jala daala…
Five or six people held him, then someone struck him with a sword… chopped off his hand, then his legs… then everything else… after cutting him to pieces, they put him on the wood they’d piled and set it on fire… burnt him alive…
The mode of murder corroborates with the fact that no part of Ehsan could be identified by his son. Only a sandal was found.
The RSS cadres interviewed by Tehelka also named the police inspector Erda (who also filed the FIR) as having told the rioters that they had 3-4 hours before Police would intervene. While the police accused in the case names three RSS workers, the cadres told Tehelka that the mob was actually led by Atul Vaid and Bharat Teli, two leaders of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad [2]. Subsequent to the report, there has been a media outcry to name them in the case. Eventually, in March 2008, the Supreme court announced a fresh inquiry by a high-level central team.

Sam guy since you have posed to question Shahih Jafri's association with our Bohras remind me what are the criteria to claim Bohra-ship ? Say I want to apply for Bohra-ship like they do for American green card what are the qualities and capabilities I need ?
Re: A valiant bohra family's battle against Modi
Ozwhat are the criteria to claim Bohra-ship ?
You should know how to sing GHANOO JIVO and then the National Anthem Wazaifuna, should know how to do Qadamboosi
and how to act like a Dog to a Master and wallah you are in..... Is that simple or is that difficult.......

Re: A valiant bohra family's battle against Modi
Hey guy,
I had a feeling you guys will surely raise this question, although you have come on very late and that too trying to malign one of the noblest act from our community. You surely looked the wrong way iff you were looking for proof. Here is the proof. Call up Tazneem committee chaps from Surat, if you happen to anyone, and ask them if they have any member from the surname Jafri. Mr Ahsan Jafri's son is in Surat and thats the reason he survived.
Also, the account the sting operation gives is different from the eye witness standing next to Mr. Ahsan Jafri on that day. When Ahsan saab knew all his efforts would not bear results, he took an ultimate gamble of giving himself up in return to leave the muslims inside his house. This he did because the mob was braying for his blood and he thought they were just after him and would let the others go if he was able to convince them. Ahsaan saab was a thorn in the eye for these hardiliners right from 1969 when his home was burned down by the RSS guys. He and his entire family along with his elder brothers family, all survived in 1969, thanks to the timely tip off provided by the hindu friends of both the brothers. But he and his brother, both came back to the same area and built another house, along with an entire bohra society, 14 houses in all. On the top of this, he won the seat of parliament with a thumping majority, and this actually poured hot oil in RSS's stomach. This society was attacked in the same manner in 1986. But at that time, Amarsingh Chowdhry was the CM (from congress) and he was very close to Ahsan saab and thats why he was able to defend very easily. But this time, unfortunately, the BJP was hand in gloves with the perpetuaters and the result was very tragic.
Guy, if you can get your hands on the events of the period when AbdeAli bahisaheb was the Aamil of Ahmedabad
(probably around 1985-87), you would know that our Devdi, which happens to be in the most sensitive area of Ahmedabad, was under constant attack from the hindu zealots. It was Ahsaan saab who used his political clout to ensure that no harm came to Devdi. Unfortunately, AbdeAli bhiasaheb is no more, or else you could have that account first hand. Want more proof ? Try talking to any bohra from Ahmedabad. One more thing. There is a shop of Khambaty Jwellers right opposite to the main entrance of Qutbuddin Shahid maula's roza in Ahmedabad. These people also have one more immitation jwellery shop in Galiakot with the same name. Some members of this family were present in Gulberg society on that fateful day and survived just because thier house happened to be a multistoreyed house and the fire could not reach the top storey despite of the ground floor being burned. I hope this is proof enough.
I never initiated this topic to launch an indirect attack on the Abdes. It was just meant to keep the community more informed about the un-named braves amongst us. Guys call prompted me into this long post.

Germans Justify EU Ban on Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi
Published Date: April 9, 2010
AHMEDABAD, India (UCAN) — A visiting parliamentary delegation from Germany on April 8 justified the European Union (EU) debarring Gujarat state Chief Minister Narendra Modi from visiting its member nations.
The EU imposed the ban after sectarian violence in 2002 killed more than 1,000 Muslims in Gujarat. Muslim and human rights groups have accused Modi of tacitly supporting Hindu radical groups that attacked Muslims.
The German delegates said they were on an unofficial visit to India with the approval of Chancellor Angela Merkel and the German parliament.
One of them, Ute Granold, said the visit aimed to improve relations between her country and India. However, German society and companies are “very sensitive to human rights issues.”
In Gujarat, the group met politicians from various parties, survivors of the 2002 riots and Church leaders to study the human rights situation in Gujarat.
Granold, a Christian Democratic Union (CDU) member of the German parliament, expressed surprise that courts in India have not decided on the Gujarat anti-Muslim riots even after eight years.
She said their discussions with various groups revealed that religious minority groups in Gujarat are experiencing increasing alienation. “It is the duty of the government to try to improve relations between religious groups but we heard from several groups that this is not happening in Gujarat.”
Textbooks ‘project Hitler as hero’
Granold said the delegation was shocked to see Gujarat school textbooks projecting German Nazi leader Adolf Hitler as a hero, and omitting a portion of German history on the elimination of Jews.
She said that Modi continues to be unwelcome in Germany and EU countries. “The position on Modi cannot be changed because too many things happened in 2002 and many questions are being asked about his role in anti-Muslim riots,” she added.
The German parliamentarian asserted that Gujarat’s apparent economic success cannot be at the cost of human rights. “The two things need to go hand in hand,” she said.
Pascal Kober, another parliamentarian in the team, expressed serious concern over restrictions imposed on religious freedom in Gujarat.
Gujarat is among several Indian states that have strict laws on religious conversion.
“It concerns us very much because we come from a country that has no restriction on religious practices,” said Kober, who is from the Free Democratic Party (FDP).
Missio, a German-based Catholic pastoral body, organized the four-member delegation’s visit to India. They visited Gujarat on April 7-8 and concluded the trip by addressing a select group of journalists at Ahmedabad, Gujarat’s commercial capital.
Other delegates were Missio director Otmar Oehring and Jan Bitter, chairperson of the Christian Democratic Union parliamentary group.

Awarebohra wrote:Hello friends.

May Allah reward Mr Jafri with the lajjat of Jannat, and give patience and more courage to his widow. May she emerge victorious. Let not the shahadat of this brave man go in vain.he has actually made us bohras proud.

Re: A valiant bohra family's battle against Modi
And the Dai has done just the opposite............ He has honoured and felicitated the butcher of Muslims, Narendra Modi and given him a cheque of over Rs.One crore !! Did he give even 25% to Jaffri's family as to what he gave to Modi ? Did he ever raise a word of protest against this murderer ? Did he use his political and police contacts (got by bribing politicians of every party) and help Jaffri's widow in filing a water tight case against Modi ? He actually rubbed salt on the wounds of one of his own followers !!!Deerseye wrote:Let not the shahadat of this brave man go in vain.he has actually made us bohras proud.

Zakia Jaffri and her husband Ehsan are not the only Bohras whose life has been devastated by Modi. There is another gentleman, Prof. Juzar Bandukwala who lost almost everything in Modi sponsored Gujarat Mass Genocide. Yet the Bohra priesthood is busy falling on Modi's feet in order to safeguard their billion dollar loot from Gujarati Bohras and the gallas in various dargahs of Gujarat alongwith with their Jameas and other personal properties spread over acres of land.

A request to every visitor on the forum, please watch the video clip and decide for yourself whether the Bohra priesthood deserves to be worshipped or condemned in the harshest possible manner !! My blood boiled after watching this clip although I have seen a number of videos on Gujarat Genocide and every time I see a new one I keep wondering as to how ANY human being could ever forget the genocide and lick Modi's a@@se just for worldly benefits, least of all a person who calls himself a "Spiritual Islamic Leader" who claims to guide his followers to the right path !!

Subsequently, he
was elected General Secretary of the Progressive Editor's Union.
Salaams to Mr Ehsan Jafri...
May his Soul Rest in Eternal Peace!
