Assalam aleykum
Brother Omabharti: You are absolutely right in saying that this has become a joke. The community across the world has gone bonkers in doing these khushi ni darees. In some jamaats, there are so many darees, that there is now even a Breakfast darees (I kid you not). On the weekends, there are 4 darees in a day - breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner. What a waste of money and man-hours.
Yes, this is a historic Milad and all that. Yes, the Dai is turning a 100. Yes, as a community, it is some cause to celebrate but at the expense of what?
We are less than a week away from Milad-un-Nabi and yet there is no mention from the jamaat of this. Prophet Muhammad (SAAW) is the single-most important person in the lives of all Muslims (I think Bohras are included in this defination, no?). Lets use simple logic because that seems to be the best that our jamaats seem to be able to understand these days. If there was no Prophet Muhammed (SAAW), there'd be no islam, if there were no islam, there's be no Dai. Even a 5 year old can understand that, right? But no, our jamaat today has ignored the Nabi and is concentrating only on the Dai and his greatness.
Imam Hussein (AS) has been forgotten too and instead his shahadat is twisted and manipulated in so many ways that that too is now a joke. On the Chelum of Imam Hussein (AS), there was no mention of the sacrifice of the Ahle-bayt but rather praise and gloating of the karam ane ehsaan of the Dai that raza was given for the waaz to be relayed worldwide.
Another new tehniyaat amal for this historic Milad Maevi (whatever that means) is 100 minutes of mataam. Of course, the 100 minutes of mataam if followed by a jamaan. Another waste of man-hours and money.
Correct me if I am wrong here but I was taught that mataam is an expression of your grief at the shahadat of Imam Hussein (AS). Yes, Bohras have been brainwashed to accept mataam as a form of prayer almost. But surely, how can mataam ever be a "gift" to Maula on his milad? 100 minutes of mataam for what? If this is not making fun of the concept of mataam and of the shahadat of the Nabi's grandson, then what else can it be?
Every madrasa child is now supposed to dress in a golden saya for the milad. Another waste of money.
The list of such wasteful khushi na amaals go on.
But what is being done for the community? Nothing. NOTHING. Apart from sitting in countless darees and doing mataam and singing praises of the greatest Dai, the community has achieved nothing. Do some community service - by this I mean things medical camps for the needy (everyone including non-Bohras), blood donation drives, helping the aged, environmental initiatives (Oh wait, the abdes will come and talk about the SOS Program where the kothar has started a "Save Our Sparrows" project and are giving out birdfeeders), building schools or clinics in developing countries etc. But instead, all that our jamaat does in khushi of the Dai's 100th milad is to have darees, do purjosh mataam and eat. Then they sit around and talk about each other's clothes that they are getting ready for the milad day and the delicacies at all the darees.
What a joke. I would be LOLing now if it was not so pathetic.
Wasalaam
