A request to all members
A request to all members
A request to everybody. Can we please talk to each other without calling each other names, without using insulting and offensive words. The level and quality of debate in the past few weeks on this board has gone all too low. We are showing less tolerance for others' opinions and consequently our language has gotten stronger and fouler.
Please please restrain the urge to bad-mouth, it's not only uncivil but also unislamic to do so. And, may we remind everybody that those who lack conviction and self-confidence and those who run out of argument often resort to foul language. As we've mentioned before, there are a lot of women who regularly visit this board and are increasingly being put off by our juvenile behavior.
Even otherwise, there is a silent majority who visit this board to read what others have to say, and some of them have complained to us that they do not feel like visiting this board again because of constant bickering and name-calling.
So far we've been very lenient in monitoring this board believing in the freedom of expression and hoping that mature, reasonable people will value this freedom use it with responsibility. That they will always be able to discuss their ideas with dignity and respect for each other. We understand that things are bound to get heated sometimes and tempers may fly every now and then. But of late this seems to have become the norm. And it's not looking good.
We're still very reluctant to clamp down, edit/delete posts or ban members. We do not wish to go down that road, but if this unhealthy trend continues we'll have no option but to become strict. We request you to be more responsible. We thank each and everyone of you for your participation and contributions.

Admin.:
Not only the language but the content as well. The forum's thread "Bohras and Reforms" shall only be meant to discuss the matters concerning our own community and not for mud sling on other sects of islam or other relegions. A so called new member "Dawood" is posting very derogatory cut and past material about other sects, which is completely unacceptable on this form. He can write about Bohras if he wishes but not about other sects and relegions.

I agree with sajid, this forum should be reserved for bohra related issues only.
Re: A request to all members
On oCTOBER 24, 2007, I had sent the following to the ADMIN, privately, of this website for their consideration. Hitherto no acknowledgement has been received!
ADMIN:

MESSAGE BOARD (Board) - BOHRAS AND REFORM
1. Board Postings: Discussion Rules
Paragraph 1.1: Opinion
No information or other material posted on the List by a subscriber or an outside individual or group shall be treated as reflecting the opinion of or as endorsed by the Owner or ADMIN (hereafter referred to collectively as "ADMIN").
Paragraph 1.2: Individual Views
The views and statements contained in all items so posted shall be deemed to be those of the authors or instigators thereof, as it is impossible for the ADMIN to monitor or edit every message that is received and transmitted, whether or not the same has passed through any form of moderating process. In other words, the Board is only a channel of communication and the responsibility for anything that is conveyed through it shall be and remains that of the individual who makes use thereof.
Paragraph 1.3: No criminal or Defamatory Matter
In particular, subscribers shall take care not to post any criminal or defamatory matter. Equally, members should refrain from making unlawful use of any material covered by copyright protection under the laws of any country. In the event of any claim or proceedings, whether civil or criminal and in whatever country or jurisdiction, the liability for any such matter or material shall rest with the author or instigator thereof. Such author or instigator shall therefore be under a legal obligation to indemnify the ADMIN or other affected third parties in respect of any loss or damage sustained by them on account of the same.
Paragraph 1.4: Use of Copyrighted Material
When quoting from, reproducing or otherwise making use of any copyrighted works for purposes of comment review criticism study or broadcast please ensure that the source thereof is always acknowledged and permission sought if required.
Paragraph 1.5: Regard for aims and objectives of the Board
Subscribers should at all time have regard to the aims and objectives of the Board as stated in the rules herein, and that the existence and smooth running of the List depend on:
a) Goodwill on the part of the ADMIN and
b) Mutual respect towards each other. Two other factors must also always be borne in mind, namely
c) That this is an entirely non-commercial operation and
d) That the global nature of the internet (with its speed of communications and potential impact across national boundaries) places a heavy responsibility on members of the Board to behave sensibly.
Paragraph 1.6: No liability to Owners
As a subscriber you expressly agree that use of this Board is at your, i.e. subscriber's, sole risk. Neither the ADMIN nor any of their employees or agents warrant that the service provided by the Board will be uninterrupted or error free and no liability shall attach to them in respect of any act of default or omission or of any direct indirect incidental or consequential loss or damage of any kind arising from the operation of the Board.
Paragraph 1.7: Reproduction and Redistribution
The subscriber shall not reproduce redistribute retransmit publish forward or otherwise transfer or commercially exploit any information software or other content which the subscriber may receive through the Board without the consent or permission of the ADMIN and originators of the material in question.
Paragraph 1.8: Membership governed Terms and Conditions
The ADMIN may modify these Terms and Conditions and may discontinue or revise any or all aspects of the service provided by the Board at their sole discretion and without prior notice. Your participation in the Board should be mature and responsible. You agree that your membership is governed these Terms and Conditions. In the event of any breach or non-observance thereof, the offending party may be pursued for legal redress under the laws of the relevant country.
2. Network Etiquette
Please keep the following suggestions in mind; when sending messages to Board and associated discussion lists, They will help keep the group user- friendly for everyone.
Paragraph 2.1: No clutter
PLEASE reduce CLUTTER on your posting, when replying to another message, delete or SNIP out irrelevant text from previous messages. Paraphrasing, quoting, and sending neat and clean messages selectively, are both kinder to peoples eyes, message boxes and to our archives. Messages are archived for future retrieval; bandwidth and computer space is an issue for some systems.
Paragraph 2.2: No flames
Flames: a flame is an emotionally charged posting, and is often directed at someone. Please note that the Board does not tolerate flames. Do not use foul or abusive language nor engage in personal attacks. Failure to abide by this and other rules are grounds for immediate removal from the list. Please be considerate of others. Through inexperience list members may inadvertently violate the above suggestions. A private message to the offender from an experienced friend or from the list owners is more appropriate than a public flame.
Paragraph 2.3: Complaints, Suggestion, Disputes
Complaints, suggestions, and/or issues relating to disputes or disturbances on the list discussions should be deferred and sent privately to the ADMIN. It is important that such postings do not create disruption to the open Board. It is time consuming and takes a lot of ADMIN energy that could otherwise be used to improve the Board.
Paragraph 2.4: Copy Paste from other sites and Boards
Posting large 'copy and paste' messages from other web sites and newspapers are not encouraged. Instead, posters are advised to only post a short excerpt, and offer the URL address where the information is located. More importantly the subscriber should offer their own perspective and reason why the readership is being directed to the link.
Comments and Suggestions
Please direct any comments and suggestions you may have to the ADMIN.

Similar ONLINE MODEL RULES may be adopted.
Specially for "SPAM" postings.
But I am sure that the Administrator has already in place the "RULES".

mbohra,
Normally we receive an email when anyone sends us a private message. We never received such an email nor is there any message from you in our private inbox. We're not sure what happened!
In any case, thank you for putting together a policy statement for this board. We really appreciate your time and effort, and more importantly, the good intentions and goodwill that prompted you to do this. We intend to look at it closely and adopt it for the board. Thank you very much.

Yes, the name calling and foul language has become in tolerable. You can't have clean hands if you throw mud.
Thank you for addressing this Admin.

mbohra,
Frankly, we did not see your email. We receive tons of emails on that address, and it's possible it fell through the cracks. Really sorry about that.
Thanks once again.

No need to apologize. It happens to the best of us (and believe me I am NOT one of them!!) in this high tech age of cyberspace etc.
Thanks for doing a great selfless and thankless job with NO material RECOMPENSE whatsoever- except the satisfaction of serving human kind and hoping to make this world a better place than you found it.

i have sent mail to that same address twice in the past and never received a reply either. i kept wondering whether it ever reached or whether the board did not find it relevant enough to acknowledge...
admin should also be aware of certain members who engage in incessant debates and splitting hairs, virtually bullying others who differ from them into submission, getting abusive, name calling and ridiculing with fancy langauage and semantics. these are people who spend an inordinate amount of time on this board and derive sadistic pleasure in degenerating every new thread and derailing it with their hate-mongering.

Admin:
You are the worst hypocrat I've seen. The sole, true purpose of this entire website -- let alone this so called forum -- is spit the venum of adaavat for Dai-ul-Mutlaq Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin Saheb (TUS), and spread it to unsuspecting mumineen under the disguise of "reform"! How can you expect civitlity and good, moral behavior from the likes (and follwers) of the Saifuddin "Snake" Insaaf (Insaap) and F. Ali Asghar (Ajgar - another BIG snake)! As I have said often before, it is high time, you guys face the truth. Your so called Reform is going nowehere. You guys truly are regressives. All you can do is bark, bark, and bark; nothing else!! Your leaders Ajgar and Saap have yet to show an iota of "progress" or "reform". Please pack your bags and go home (which, of course, is Jahannum for you guys). Better yet, if you do not like what we the mumineen do in our daily life with the blessings of and brarakaat of doa from our beloved Maula, then find your better ways, and leave us alone.
Just take a look at your website. Everything (and literally everything) is so outdated. Obviously, even you as Admin cannot find anything worthwhile to update/refresh the material with. The only part of your website that remains active is this venom-spitting so called "forum". Why not close the whole damn website, just keep your forum, and call it what it truly is -- "Discussion Group for Dai's Dushmans".
Long live Aqa Maula Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin Saheb (TUS)
Khuda ni Laanat Dai na Dushmano Upar.

Al Zulfikar,
It's a good thing that you are not referring to me, if you had been referring to me then I would've said "hehehe, looks like the Admin is ignoring your requests to ban me from this board".

Can you point out a few posts from Insaap and Ajgar which highlight their 'uncivil' and 'immoral' behaviour? You should then teach us the ideal language and behaviour to use with examples from some posts by the followers of dai-ul-mutlaq.Originally posted by Mamluk-E-Syedna:

Re: A request to all members
anajmi, a jaahil wahhabi, like his wahhabi masters, is no friend of culture or beauty. Fortunately, wahhabis failed to conquer Egypt in the 19th century. Otherwise we would have priceless artifacts of Ancient Egypt wiped out by them as their excuse to "clean the world of idolatry".
The only word that comes to mind about his character is that it is 'ugly', devoid of tahseen, a Quranic injunction. Every thread on these boards has evidence and incidence of his ugliness. He turned the discussion of lofty ideals of Islam from Iqbal into an ugly tirade. It is time that he was restrained, if not banned altogether.
I suggest Admin create a new thread
where all his 'ugly' posts are transferred. We can start with his three posts, so far, on the Iqbal thread.
I have introduced Ali ibn Abi Taalib in the Iqbal thread. Ali was assassinated by the Khwarij. Wahhabis are modern-day Khawarij and are hated by Muslims today as much as Khwarij were hated in its day. Muslims do not much care for extremism and Khwarij died out for lack of support. Unfortunately, Wahhabism has powerful allies in petrodollars and the United States aristocracy, who have bought support for its extremism thoughout Islam producing anajmis in plenty.
Naturally, I am mindful of the fact that al-zulfiqar, perhaps, includes me in his "certain members" list. I try to be constructive. I am not completely thick-skinned. If enough people here object to my contributions, I will, very likely, disappear.

Al Zulfiqar,
We do receive a lot of "moderator alert" emials that one can send by clicking on "Report post" which appear at the bottom of every post. We take due note of those but in no way to acknowledge them because they are generated internally with the sender being "reform@dawoodi-bohras" itself.
Apart from these, we don't recall receiving any separate mail about the issues you refer to.
Thank you for interest and concerns.

Re: A request to all members
porus,
Please restrain your BS. You insist on calling others wahhabis to dismiss their valid points, plain and simple. You are a educated jaahil. A learned person who knows arabic and has come down to performing antics like maatamiyaaras all around. One who has clearly stated that he does not believe in Allah or his message and then tries to hide behind taawil. A coward front and back. What more can you expect from cowards like you and al zulfikar than to attack from behind?

Re: A request to all members
porus,
This is what I think happened. Correct me if I am wrong. You kept poking holes in the quran because you kept telling yourself that you were actually poking holes only in the translation of the quran according to YusufAli and the real quran is hidden somewhere in a different dimension and cannot be harmed. Hence you continued being a muslim even if you continued disrespecting the quran.
Then you thought of debunking every translation/interpretation of the quran in favor of your taawil.
Unfortunately for you, you ran into anajmi. Now things started becoming difficult. It wasn't as easy to debunk these translations as you had originally thought. What does porus do now? Take the easy road - start calling anajmi a wahhabi/bigot as loudly as possible and on every thread that he posts anything hoping that he will go away.
Too bad.

anajmi:
This is for your advice!
Abu Hurairah, may Allaah be pleased with him, narrates that Rasulullah, sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam, said:
The excellence and good observance of Islam by
a man is to leave aside what does not concern him.
(Tirmidhi)
Note: The meaning of this hadith is that the perfection and beauty of a man's belief is reflected in his giving up unprofitable talk and actions.
