Do not instigate another unwanted debate between Shias and Sunnis. Majority of the muslims all over the world do not perform Mutah. But than for majority of them marraiges are even shorter than Mutah. Whether it is India, Pakistan or Middle East. All you need to do is go to places like Hyderabad, UP, Bihar and many more where muslims are in majority. And you will find that men take all this very lightly. Just as the Arabs in middle east who get married for fun and after few days get rid of the wife. In fact the Indian government has amended the divorce law for Muslims in India giving some special rights to women after such a large number of triple-talaq incidents. There is a similar problem in Pakistan and many other Islamic countries. If two people cannot live together they should call it a day instead of making each other's lives misrable. But marrying someone for fun and than ditching the person after satisfying the lust is a grave crime not only from Islamic perspective but also from plain human perspective. I am strongly against Mutah and I am also strongly against triple-talaq. If given a choice I would ban both these practices.

In what context have you made the above sarcastic statement because I vehemently oppose the practice of mutah by shias in the present form and also the ayyashis of the present day arab sheikhs. And, I have seen the Salma agha/Raj Babbar starrer 'Nikah', it was a good film and the songs, especially the ghazal by Ghulam Ali was excellent.

I apologize for the misunderstanding. If you will read my earlier post on this thread itself you will realize my thoughts on Mutah and Triple-Talaq. Actually I was referring to your qoute where you mentioned that the Shias should feel proud about the fact that their fellow muslims are using triple-talaq to get rid of their wives just the way they use Mutah. Honestly I feel that there is nothing to feel proud about all this. In fact we as muslims should be ashamed that our muslim brothers are carrying out such practices in the name of Islam... In fact many times my friends from other religions ask me this embarrasing question and I am unable to provide them with an answer... I hope you get my point.

No need to apologise brother, misunderstandings do happen. By the way my remarks on muta were a sarcastic reply on the remarks made by someone which was to belittle the wahabis although Iam not all a wahabi fan and my hatred towards them has increased manifold after their destructions of various holy sites in Saudi Arabia.
