Rasoolpura Masjid in Udaipur celebrates 100 years


The reformists in Udaipur celebrated the 100th anniversary of the Rassolpura Masjid on December 28th, 2008. This was an occasion of great joy and hundreds of reformist men, women and children gathered to celebrate the event which also coincided with the Hijri new year.

The function was compered by Hussain Udaipuri and started with the Tilawat-e-Quran by Mulla Saifuddin Bhai, and was chaired by Prof. Mehdi Hasan who was visiting form Malegaon. Abde Ali R.G. Wala, the conevner of the Masjid Committee, informed the audience about the daily activities of the masjid, and then the president of the Dawoodi Bohra Jamaat, Abid Hussain Adeeb talked about the 100 years of history (Hijri 1330 -1430) the masjid had witnessed: the events and vicissitudes, the various activities and generations of Bohras who prayed there, the repairs and the upkeep and the tumultous era of revolt in the early Seventies. Adeeb Sahab also highlighted the role of the Rasool Waliji Wala family and Maharana Fateh Singh for the building of the masjid and thanked them for their valuable contributions.

Mulla Saifuddin Bhai and Janab Yusuf Ali R.V recited the Hamd Munajat, and Prof. Mehdi Hasan explained the benefits of Namaz and its central role in our Islamic belief system. On this occasion Abde Ali Kholiyawala and Nisar Bhai Akbar-Dawoodji Wala were honoured with shawls and thanked for their dedication and contribution to the masjid. The function concluded with refreshment and salwaat.
